Fencing

Greentree builds almost any kind of fence available. We ensure the best craftsmanship that will keep your fence strong and beautiful for many years to come.

Maintenance

  • If a board warps or cracks, put in a screw to help straighten or hold together the pieces. If needed, the entire board can be replaced at an additional cost.
  • Posts should be checked occasionally at 1 inch below the ground for rot – to ensure stability of the post is not compromised.
  • Rinse dust buildup off your vinyl fence with a hose or pressure washer every spring.
  • To ensure the gate opens and closes properly, check the alignment of the latch every spring and adjust if necessary. Excessive force should not be needed to close the gate.

Warranty

  • Greentree provides a 1 year workmanship warranty for fences.
  • Greentree’s warranty is limited to 1 month for fence/gate alignment unless Greentree has installed an overhead arbor connecting the tops of gate posts.
  • Most vinyl, aluminum and iron fences and gates come with a manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Greentree is not liable for any checking, cracking, chipping, warping, discolouration and/or disfiguration of material that may occur after installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: Do I have to stain pressure treated wood?
A: It is not recommended to stain pressure treated lumber for a minimum of 1 year as it has been recently coated in a treatment paint that can inhibit the ability of the stain to adhere to the wood. However, as it dries out staining pressure, treated wood is recommended to increase the lifespan. When selecting a stain, consider your neighbourhood: check for architectural standards on colour and type of stain.
  • Q: Do I have to paint my vinyl fence?
A: Vinyl materials do not need to be stained however they can be if you choose; consult a painting store for the best product to do so.
  • Q: Does my fence need to look like everyone else’s?
A: If you live in a new development, your fence must match the architectural standards. If you live in an older neighbourhood, you can change the style to whatever you prefer.
  • Q: How tall can my fence be?
A: Unless otherwise noted, Greentree will build your fence at a height of 6’ at every post. Local municipalities typically do not allow your fence to be over 6’ outside your property line or to extend past the front of your house.
