Spring won’t let me stay in this house any longer! I must get out and breathe the air deeply again.

Design Style

I am a thoughtful designer that takes care and consideration regarding the needs of clients. I make a point of trying to include everything that a client desires to enjoy their outdoor space to its fullest. My design style is a hybrid between organic shapes and clean lines. Depending on what a client is drawn to, I am able to create a design that matches with their aesthetic and combines my own design sensibility.

Design Philosophy

I believe that a person’s yard is their sanctuary and an extension of themselves and therefor it should reflect their needs as a place to enjoy on multiple levels. As a designer, it is important to me that I am able to understand how a person will use their space and how the space will flow naturally between all of its design elements. I enjoy creating designs that are visually stimulating through the use of colour, texture and form while also incorporating the functional needs of its users.

Biography

Spending time outside for hours on end was the best part of my childhood. I grew up in northern Alberta, surrounded by the Boreal Forest. Having the forest nearly out my back door, inspired my love of trees and nature.

I have always been a creative person who has been drawing as long as I can remember. In high school, I had a fantastic art teacher who let us explore using a variety of media and this is where I encountered oil paint which became my favourite medium. I continued pursuing my love of art and went to art school where I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the NSCAD University in Halifax. I continue to paint in my spare time and I occasionally I exhibit in shows within Edmonton and the surrounding area.

While trying to figure out a career that would combine my creative side and my love of nature and the outdoors, I came across Landscape Architecture. In 2012, I completed my Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Guelph and found work doing large commercial projects within Edmonton. Longing for work that was more creative, that allowed me to work on a more personal level with people, I ended up at Greentree where I have the
privilege of helping people to bring their yard dreams to life.
